This weekend has been filled with fun little adventures.
On Friday we went on a movie date, which is always fun. We have a Wehrenberg theatre in town and the guy taking your tickets on the evening always makes sure to tell you where the restrooms are and then gives a little critique of the movie. We like him because he actually goes to the movies and is such a nice guy.
Saturday we woke early and went to the local Farmers' Market. Every stand has so much to offer. We bought: loose leaf and romaine lettuce, cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, sugar snap peas, shell peas, white radishes, and cherries. When we got home we washed and blanched the sugar snap peas. Then we shelled the other peas and also washed and blanched those. Then we divided them up and froze them. We are going to continue doing this with peas and other things, so that we can have them for the winter. After shelling all the peas I literally had a green thumb...haha.
After a snack and a little nap we went for a 3 mile run around the neighborhood, which took us through a wooded trail that I love running through. The weather was sunny and warm, but there was a nice breeze. We finished the loop in about 29 minutes, which is a very good pace for me. I did get a little sunburned, but nothing too painful. When we got home we ate lunch...mine had some homemade pizza and it was soooo good! Then after getting cleaned up we went out for more grocery items. Our first stop was Ace Hardware...the husband wants to make some soap so we were searching for lye. Did you know how many need household things they sell at a hardware store? At least neat kitchen things, which I always like looking at. After Ace it was the food co-op to look for essential oil for the soap. Then the grocery store to get some real food.
Later we made dinner and then went for a walk in a nature center near by. The birds were all singing their songs and we found some wild black/red raspberries on the trail. We saw two deer (a doe and her fawn we think), lots of dragonflies, some fish, and even a muskrat (which I thought was a beaver at first). We ended the night with some ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery....soooo gooood!!!!
Today we slept in and now are enjoying a slow morning. I'm thinking of taking a bike ride later. This evening we might go to a free concert at the civic center downtown.
It has been a great weekend with such fun little adventures!
